Go Naked!

April 15, 2009

Giving people clear vision to complement their lifestyles is something I find most satisfying. Nowhere is this more evident than the interesting and dynamic world my own children—young adults—live in. They are what our practice calls the “Go Naked” generation. They love to swim, surf, hike; they work at computers, blog and tweet. Those with contacts and glasses are at a disadvantage.

This year I performed LASIK for my daughter, Annie, and step-daughter, Lindsay, both in their mid-20s with longtime dependencies on glasses and contact lenses. Annie has blogged about her experience.

Connecting with this demographic is why my staff and I are offering LASIK screenings at the Night Market at Aloha Tower Marketplace this month.

Statistics show that most LASIK patients are 25+ years of age. In the past couple of years, I have seen the trend of Gens Y and X to really examine ways to simplify and improve life for themselves.

New technologies have made people eligible for refractive surgery who were not previously candidates. Night Market is “field research,” getting to know my own patients better, helping people find out what’s right for their eyes.

This Night Market stuff is fun. It also keeps me in tune with my kids.
